Day 9: Church Minshull to Northwich

Another night with a lot of rain, but that only creates a cosy atmosphere on the boat. We move off when the rain stops in the morning, and it gradually brightens as we get nearer to Middlewich. A lot of attractive canalside gardens

We descend the 5 locks at Middlewich, getting help at a couple from some volunteer lock keepers

We resupply and make salmon with scrambled eggs for lunch

We are heading for Northwich today, and the promising sounding Boatyard Bistro, one of the few places without live sport in every room. Vera tries to book, but the number doesn’t work. Internet research tells us that this place is now closed, but we locate a fish and chip shop that can provide tea

Our toilet goes into red alert status, and Vera takes her turn to change the cassette

Just before the mooring point for the chippy we see The Lambs Wharf pub......which used to be the Boatyard Bistro. Unfortunately it doesn’t do food, so it’s fish and chips and a relaxed evening on the boat planning the optimum way to get to Preston Brook early on Thursday, and planning future adventures
