Set off early, passing what looks to be James Bond’s secret hideaway. Our last full day aboard, we will be sorry to leave and can thoroughly recommend this as a holiday experience.
Also a lot of rain today, but it was warm rain. Travelled back past the Anderton Boat Lift, but missed the boat coming up as we were hunkering down from the rain and feeding the swans
Back through the tunnels, making it to the long Preston Brook tunnel with seconds to spare before the end of our one-way time slot.
I was very disconcerted to see a white light ahead of me. Was that another boat coming towards us? It turned out to be a boat in front, showing a white light on the back
Vera tried to take this so that the heron was perched on my shoulder
We moored up for the night near Daresbury, giving us a very easy one mile journey tomorrow morning.
Daresbury turned out to be the birthplace of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carol. So there were lots of Carol themed things there including the Lewis Carol Centre (closed).
Ate and drank in the Rig O Bells and then back to the boat.
We walked past Daresbury Science Park, which looks amazing.
