Day 7: Chester to the Iron Lock

A day of sunshine and showers as we slowly continue our return journey. We stop for lunch at the Shady Oak, which was closed when we passed on Thursday. We moored up at the pub's landing stage in front of the customers sat in the garden. It’s definitely the way to arrive!

Towards the end of lunch the sky was getting darker and darker, and you could see the rain as it came towards us. So we paid our bill and stepped into the boat as the heavens opened.

After a couple of hours the sun was back and we resumed our journey. Great sight of a kingfisher diving into the water and then perching for its photo to be taken.

Moor for the night just before the ‘iron lock', which we will tackle tomorrow, as the rain falls outside
